This is abit late in telling, but the reunion was the most fun I've enjoyed in years.
Really enjoyed seeing everyone and catching up. Great people.
I'm trying to relocate Rick Talbot if anyone knows how to reach him.  He is still in the area.
Thanks

Awwwww.  While I DID make it to 50th Commencement, "scheduling" prevented my attending the 50th Reunion of the TWO classes; OP/NKC.  "Missed" the reunion by about 2 weeks when yet AGAIN back in K.C. for nearly "monthly" trip of "polishing up" late Mom's home [far enough along, now just "house" (she made it to age 98, in her own home, driving until age 96 1/2!)] {actually needing "redo" -- seems these days seller is expected to "redo" before a sale!}  WAS amused at the OPHS 50th Commencement that someone was commended with some award for "perfect attendence" -- for the prior FOUR YEARS!  Good Grief!  Cliff Ebel did his entire schooling in the NKC School District with 12 YEARS (or 13? K also?) perfect attendence!  On some prior K.C. "worktrip" I also just missed the Dr. Dan Kahler memorial at OPHS, finding the freely thrown Gladstone Dispatch (formerly NKC Dispatch at whose then offices The Northman's Log and The Buzz were typeset/pasted up/printed) announcement the day AFTER the event.  AM enjoying both scanning over Ron Robert's photos AND reading over these guestbook comments.  DO miss the original "Memorials" section which listed some of the classes' "departed"; Jimmy Coleman who possibly was the very first of either school, "returned" from Viet Nam I think possibly having left school well before graduating so "gone" while others of his "class" were still in school.  And Alfred Sauer who just barely retired, fortunate to return from Viet Nam, helicopter piloted for years for K.C.P.D., then motorcycle patrol for Riverside, yet barely weeks after "retired," also then "gone."  Life can be "unfair."

I regret I am slow to chime in on the blog.  I attended our 5 year reunion and wonder if anyone will look familiar now??  Seems all I remember of high school is riding in Cheryl's yellow mustang and going to TUB after school and getting 3 mild and a coke for 76 cents!! My husband and I feel blessed with our lives, spent all of educational careers in southern Indiana.  Now we are spending most time in Golden, Colorado where our children and 7 grandchildren live.  Life is good.  50 years is a really long time.......so appreciate the committee for making all these plans.  Great job.

Sorry to have missed the reunion this year, but I did fill out a brief bio on the Classmates section. Would love to hear from any other Buzz staff, such a fun group. I have enjoyed reading the posts that other classmates have provided!

Looking forward to seeing people from the best times of my life, not counting my 6 grandkids, 2 sons and Anna my wife of 48 years.  She's from Shawnee Mission East and is a bad judge of men to be with me.  Good to know that Star Trek and the Ford Mustang share the 50th anniversary.
Hi Marilyn Henry, at least one other Big Shoal alumni will be there.
Good job Toni.  Call me if you need help. 816-719-0330

Our 50th is almost upon us...hard to believe!  Life has been full since high school days.  Graduated from University of Missouri with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.  After graduation had a short stint in US Naval Aviation.   Married in 1973 resulting in two children and two granddaughters, all in the KC metro area.  Been retired now for 3 years from a career in technical sales and marketing.  Last eight years was a Global Sales Manager traveling the world.  Time now spent enjoying our granddaughters multiple activities, golfing, traveling and reading.  Looking forward to seeing and visiting some old friends in a couple of weeks!

Will try to check in here as often as I am able. We're getting close guys! Is anyone going to be in need of airport transportation? Or for that matter hotel to event transportation.  I have a vanm and can help out some as long as I know in advance and I'm sure there are others locally that would also be glad to help out. No sense wasting the money on cabs LOL. Besides I am the perfect designated driver as I am on a strict no alcohol regimn for the time being unless the doc gives a greenlight lol.  Wow 50 friggin years LOL :(   Looking forward to seeing everyone again Don McCleery

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.  I still live in the area.  I worked 14 years as an allergy technician for Dr.mSportsman in Gladstone and then 26 years as an insurance underwriter in the Surety department for Chubb Insurance.  Showed and trained Atabian horses for over 30 years but the past 16 I have been showing my Toy Poodles in agility, obedience and confirmation as well as volunteering with my therapy dogs at hospitals, nursing homes, assistant living homes and schools.

Thank you to all who have worked on the OP/NKC 50th Reunion of the Class of 1966!  We are looking forward to it (my husband, Ron Asby, is from NKC Class of '65--we went to his 50th reunion last year and had a great time reminiscing.) Hoping to see friends from Crestview, North Gate and NKC.  I moved at the end of our junior year to St. Louis area (graduating with a class of 144!) graduated from NWMSU in '70, Ron (Navy Veteran) & I married in August 1970, & have lived in several places (Norfolk & Chesapeake VA; Gladstone; Bolingbrook IL.)  Currently we live in Kennesaw GA (since 1983) where I just retired after 23 years with the Cobb County School District.  Our three daughters & families live close by (five grandchildren), while our son (Marine Veteran) lives in Texas (three grandchildren.)

i am reading the comments and some names ring a bell. I probably won't come but love reading the comments. I worked my senior year and just had a few friends so wouldn't know anyone. I've been in Iowa for over 45 years , live in a very small town, have 3 kids 5 grandkids and retired from Usps. Have fun all you old hornets.

Nice touch, adding this to the website!  Well, the 50th will be the first NKCHS class reunion that I will attend.  I don't expect to recognize a single person after 50 years!  Have been to several of Holly's though.  My wife Holly (Wesport HS 1966) and I are looking forward to the event.

High school reunions are great!  NKC has had too few.  I learned about the 50th today (6/19) and we will be in Spain in September so cannot attend.  Carolyn go. It's not to 1 up, but to embrace all that has changed and happened to us since 1966.

Thanks to all who have put this site together and who are working on the reunion.  My husband of nearly 48 years and I lived in NJ, CA & IL before settling down in the Ozark Hills of SWMO 25 years ago.  It's been a bumpy ride but I'm still going strong.  Like Marilyn Henry, I'm looking forward to seeing many dear friends from lo-on-nng ago ~

To see Our Year Book Pictures:

www.northkansascityhighschool.com/Classes/1966.htm

Our Class marked the first time in the 53 years history that the district had two graduating senior classes. 1200 is the total, I believe.

No wonder the halls felt so crowded. LOL

When I was younger I was very shy. I wanted to join the Pep Club, but the jacket was too expensive for my family of 5 children. I didn't have a car so I never went to school functions or sock hops. I really didn't have friends, just classmates that I talked to in a few classes is what I remember. Art was the only class that really allow that freedom of talking for a shy girl.

I don't plan on coming

Dear 1966 NKC-HS classmates. Just booked my flight from Amsterdan to the USA. YES, I will attend the 50 th class NKC-OPHS reunion together with my American "sister"  Cheryl DeVorss Cole .  I truly do hope to meet many of you.  You all have made my NKC-HS year, as an AFS foreign exchange student from the Netherlands,  most rewarding.  It changed my life forever and perhaps yours too. Love to hear from you and do hope that all is well. Kindest regards from Baukje

I look forward to seeing lots of friends at the reunion.  Would not miss it for the world.  Just purchased our tickets and now making travel arrangements.  I have lived in Southern California since 1969 and am "busy" being retired for the last 10 years.   Toni you have done a fantastic job with this website.  Thanks for all your hard work.  See you all soon!

Hi everyone.  I'm not missing! Stayed in the KC metro area.  Got married, moved to a farm in NW MO. with husband.  Retired from TWA and now President of Missouri Master Naturalist Loess Hills Chapter based in St. Joseph.  Been retired 15 years and loving every day.  Unfortunately my husband passed away in March after a long illness but we had a great life together, travelling and bicycling both overseas and in the US.  Our longest trip - from our house near Parkville to Washington DC, just the 2 of us!

Excited and looking forward to meeting up with my Classmates from NKC/OP of 1965/66. It will be interesting to find out what everyone has been doing for the past 50 years. I hope more Classmates sign up and attend the closer it comes to that September date. See U there!!!

First time I've ventured into the website. Toni has done a great job on it. WOW!  What memories it stirs up!  Hoping to make it back to the Reunion but we're up in the air right now.  My wife, Jeanice, and I are living in Kingman, AZ but we're contemplating on just selling everything and "hitting the road" in a Class A.  Both of us are retired so we've got to figure out what's going to be doing.

Left the K.C. area in the late 70's and haven't been back since.  Been in AZ since 1979.  Hope to see everyone at the Reunion.

Email me if you'd like.  Cell phone is (928)380-0009.  Have it with me just about all the time.  Very active in the Masonic Fraternity so may be in a meeting so leave me a message and I'll call you back as soon as I can.  Won't just pass up a call because I don't recognize the number so don't think I'm ignoring you.

Toni, youi have done a fantastic job with this website. A big Thank you. It is always fun to reconnect with our past and connect with those who made high school fun and tolerable. I am silently hoping Big Shoal has a big turn out as well as Eastgate, Maplepark, NKC and OP, as like some of you, I attended them all!  Stay healthy and see you in September. ( I see my Ice Cream man is on the list...do you know who you are????)
