After Oak Park, I went to work with Southwestern Bell as a personnel clerk in Kansas City, married my husband, Glenn, from central Texas, moved to Houston, had a son and daughter, moved to San Antonio, TX, got them through college, held several levels of upper management secretarial Marketing Department positions, and after 33 years with Bell, retired in 2000.  Our children were raised around water, skiing, hiking, boating, camping.  After retiring, we built a house in Port O'Connor, on the Texas coast, to saltwater fish the bays and around the islands.  We sold our San Antonio home, bought a house in Victoria, TX, as our main residence which is just 60 minutes from the Port O'Connor house.  Most our time though is spent fishing out of Port O'Connor two-to-four days a week, having patio BBQ get-togethers with family, friends, and neighbors.  Our son is in San Antonio with his wife so we travel back there; they kayak, canoe, and have a trimaran for all the fresh and salt waters in Texas.  Our daughter is in Santa Fe, New Mexico, first worked for an Atlanta company that does safaris and in 2007 she took me with her on a two-week safari business trip all over Tanzania to view five camps during the annual migration--a lifetime experience for me!  She now works for The Santa Fe Opera, does search and rescue with her partner and is currently on the New Mexico Search & Rescue Board.  I go back to Kansas City to visit my brother and his wife, and my very active 91-year old aunt.  I've had a great life so far, and hope I have my aunt's longevity to fish on....

Greetings, Class of '66! I'm looking forward to re-familiarizing myself with your faces at the reunion. The list of names is sure a trip down memory lane.

After graduating from Mizzou in 1971, I married Scott Armstrong, a fellow physics major. We have two sons, no daughters-in-law or grandchildren. We've lived in Alexandria VA, Rochester NY, South Pasadena CA, and now for 20 years in Fort Wayne IN. My list of jobs would sound like fiction, so I'll just say we are happily retired now and enjoying traveling as much as we can. My mother and my younger sister still live in Kansas City North, so we are back in town several times a year.

While attending Oak Park, my name was Garman.  My husband at that time was attending Midwest Baptist Seminary. I went on to work at Independence KS Post Office in 1980 and retired from there in 2008.   I recently moved back  to North Carolina--back to my "roots."

Don Bale:  I graduated from the Univ. of Missouri for both undergraduate and medical school.  I am a practicing OB-GYN physician in St, Louis.  I have been married for 46 years and have 5 sons, all graduated from college, gainfully employeed and out of the house (the perfect trifecta).  I look forward to seeing everyone at the reunion, I am sure none of us have changed at all.

After our wonderful graduation ceremony from North Kansas City High School,  I moved to the Plaza area and attended the Kansas City Art Institute from1966-70, receiving a BFA in Graphic Design and Corporate Visual Identity.  Upon graduation from KCAI, I was awarded a scholarship to attend the Walt Disney California Institute of the Arts,  his namesake art institution encompassing all areas of fine and performing arts, 1970-1973. During my time in grad school, my desire was to be a graphic designer.  I had a graphic design internship then, with Charles and Ray Eames Studio in Venice, California.  The Eames line of furniture was produced by Herman Miller, where I went on to work as a graphic designer 1974-1979 , in Zeeland, Michigan.  Then … a career shift, and from 1980-85, I designed for NASA (L B Johnson Space Center) emphasizing the Space Shuttle Orbiter and Solar Power Satellite programs. I got married during this time, and we have a daughter, Lauren.  Divorced later, and I had another career shift, and became a professor at the University of Texas – Austin.  Within five years, I was offered a professorship to head the digital design program at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln,  at the Johnny Carson Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts.  In 1997, Ben Galatzan and I met at the university,  and we have been together since  (married in 2014).   In 2012, I was granted Professor Emeritus at UNL.
( My creative lenticular video print work may be viewed on Instagram under RonBearBartels ).  I retired - somewhat early and unplanned - when Ben was unexpectedly offered a professorship to teach in nursing education at the University of Colorado, in nearby Colorado Springs. He is presently teaching, and also working on his PhD (2020).  We have nine nieces and nephews, and grandson.  We spend as much time with them as we can, about yearly we try to visit them in Charleston SC, Winston-Salem NC, Owego New York, and Princeville, Kauai.  I really enjoyed so many moments growing up and maturing at NKCHS, Northgate Junior High, and Crestview Elementary. I am unable to make this very special reunion in 2016.  But, I sincerely look forward to hearing from some of my old buddies and comrades from this magical time growing up! - RB
